CMH is proud to present a Spring Wind Quintet project. This ongoing collaboration between wind quintets and composers from across the U.S. seeks to engage underrepresented composers in the creation of new works for winds that illuminate the significance of breath in a cultural narrative about systemic racism, police brutality against the black community, and the impact of COVID-19.

CMH Digital kicks back into gear with a special concert featuring our Spring Wind Quintet and guest pianist, Jonathan Korth. Recorded in spring of 2021 in Orvis Auditorium, SWQ performs two works by late romantic composers, August Klughardt and Ludwig Thuille.

Past Events

CMH is excited to collaborate with the Honolulu Mayor’s Office of Culture and the Arts on a co-commission of a world premiere by Kanaka Maoli composer and Pulitzer Prize finalist, Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti. Sky Gate for ten musicians honors Isamu Noguchi’s Sky Gate, one of the most prominent works of art on the City and County of Honolulu’s Civic Center. The work we be performed outdoors at Lāhainā Noon, a time when the sun is directly overhead and Sky Gate’s shadow projects a perfect ring. Free concert, May 26 at 12:00pm, Honolulu Hale.

Honolulu Brass Quintet performs music that both transcends and pokes fun at the human condition. The program showcases the warmth and virtuosity of brass instruments, with music ranging from Baroque to Modern, and thought-provoking to laugh-inducing.

Our season concludes with a rarely-heard arrangement of Brahms’ Serenades No. 1 in D Major for ten instruments, plus exciting music for brass quintet.
